Presented in collaboration with the Da Camera of Houston Young Artist Program, AFA is changing the way young musicians learn their craft. Da Camera Young Artists augment our faculty roster with emerging professionals who hold degrees from the nation’s top conservatories and represent the best of the next generation of performers.
Our philosophy is based on more than instrument instruction and technical mastery, it includes music theory, performance practice, public speaking, and interaction with audiences. The program is open to pianists, string, woodwind and brass players with at least one to two years of experience. Rehearsals take place on Tuesday or Wednesday evenings or on Saturdays at our office and studio just outside downtown Houston. Concert performances take place in January and May and are a required part of the educational experience.
