AFA works to engage the greater Houston and national community in four key ways:

Partnerships with area schools and school districts ensure broad representation from throughout the region and help us maintain our commitment to a minimum of 40% aggregate minority enrollment.

In-School residencies enhance existing programs in area schools by providing partnerships with outstanding musicians and clinicians. Providing instruction in chamber music and composition that enhance school curricula, AFA promotes the highest standards of music education.

Collaborations with area presenters allow us to offer innovative programming that can’t be found anywhere else in the region. We believe in complementing existing programs rather than competing against them. Our unique partnerships result in meaningful, in-depth opportunities that leverage the best of Houston’s musical and education communities.

Community engagement means offering educationally and musically enriching programs to our audiences. Free AFA programs can be found in concert halls, schools, community centers and in unique locations throughout Houston. We give outstanding young people a diverse and rewarding array of opportunities to showcase their talents.
