Chamber Music Academy Overview

AFA is changing the way young musicians experience their musical journey through chamber music. Our philosophy is based on supplementing students’ other areas of musical instruction by providing the opportunity to collaborate with their peers, study in-depth musical concepts, and giving them the opportunity to grow their confidence through teamwork. Students work together in small ensembles with peers of similar abilities and are coached by AFA’s Teaching Artists on chamber music norms and techniques, performance practice, public speaking, music history, and more. The program is open to string, woodwind, and brass instrument players with at least two years of experience and pianists with at least three years of study.

Groups rehearse for 2 hours each Saturday at Garza Studios just outside of downtown in Houston’s East End. Performances in the community are also an important part of the experience. Click here for more information about the current season, or apply today!
