Christian Restrepo
AFA at HSPVA Chamber Music Piano
Born in Colombia, Christian Alberto Restrepo Sánchez has dedicated his life to the creation, performance and teaching of music. In 2006, Restrepo earned his bachelor’s degree in piano performance from El Instituto De Bellas Artes in Medellín, Colombia. In 2010 he obtained his master’s in piano performance from Sam Houston State University, and in 2014 his doctorate in piano collaborative from the University of Houston, with a minor in composition.
A resident of Houston, Restrepo enjoys an enthusiastic life as performer, composer and educator. He has been the recipient of several awards in composition and piano performance, and maintains an active agenda full of recitals, master classes, lectures, and commissions.
Restrepo is a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers; the American Federation of Musicians; the Music Teachers National Association; and the American Composers Forum. Restrepo teaches piano and composition studies at his studio and at Houston Community College. He also serves as pianist-and-composer-in-residence of the Klein, Texas, United Methodist Church.
