Jamie Cazares began playing violin in sixth grade, through the programs at Cinco Ranch Junior High and Cinco Ranch High School. She is a graduate of the VanderCook College of Music, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education. At VanderCook College of Music, she began learning viola which she now primarily performs in the Greater Houston Area. She is a proud alumna of AFA, having participated in the Summer Conservatory Orchestra as a student in 2009, 2010, and 2012. She also served as an Alumni Intern from 2013-2015 and Head Alumni Intern in 2014 and 2015.

Currently, Jamie teaches orchestra at Thornton Middle School in Cypress Fairbanks ISD, where has served since August 2017. She enjoys seeing her students growth from beginner orchestra to their continued career as high school musicians.
