Laura Vu

Summer Music Festival: Orchestra & Chamber Music Workshop Violin

Laura Vu graduated from the Moores School of Music with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education and started her teaching career at Sartartia Middle School in Fort Bend ISD. She currently teaches at Cinco Ranch Junior High School in Katy ISD. Under her tutelage, the program has doubled in size, with currently over 230 orchestra students. The program has also had an increased number of students who have earned spots in the prestigious Region 23 Orchestra.

Mrs. Vu’s orchestras receive consistent superior ratings at UIL Contests and “Best in Class” awards in music festivals. Mrs. Vu’s non-varsity orchestra received recognition from the Citation of Excellence Competition in 2021 and 2024. The Cinco Ranch Junior High Varsity Orchestra was named a finalist in the Mark of Excellence Competition in 2021 and 2024. The Varsity Orchestra was also finalists in the Ann C. Roberts Houston Cup Competition in 2022 and 2023. Additionally, the Cinco Symphony Orchestra was named Honor Orchestra finalists in the 2022-23 and 2024-25 competitions.

Mrs. Vu judges for region and all-state competitions, helping to select the best in the state of Texas. She works with local orchestras and Region Orchestras as a clinician and invited guest conductor. She is an active member of the Texas Music Educators Association, the Texas Orchestra Directors Association, and the Texas Music Adjudicators Association.

She resides in Cypress, TX with her husband and newborn son, who was born in February 2025.
