Mitchell Wright
Chamber Music Academy Cello
Mitchell has been studying the cello for the past 12 years and has been teaching for the past 6. He received a bachelor’s degree in Cello Performance under the teaching of Vagram Saradjian, Estelle Choi, and Eunghee Cho. Mitchell frequently collaborates with composers and musicians in the Houston area to perform new works, notably premiering Misook Kim’s ‘Danza II’ for solo cello, performing J. E. Hernandez’s SHEER in a project sponsored by the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and was a featured performer in the 2019 Contemporary Music Festival at Cy-Fair College. In 2020 he was awarded, with the Iris Trio, Second Prize in the ENKOR International Music Competition for performance by a chamber ensemble. He is currently a member of the RADIX Cello Quartet, the premiere cello ensemble in the city. Aside from his active performing career Mitchell has been teaching in the Houston area, including Katy, Cypress, Fort Bend, and Pearland, for the past 6 years. While he primarily teaches privately Mitchell also instructs in classroom settings through outreach and as a guest instructor for local school orchestras. Mitchell believes that teaching is one of the most transformative and rewarding experiences and hopes that his students reflect that through his teaching.
