Nicholas Bissen

Nicholas Bissen is a strong advocate for student opportunity and success. As a saxophonist and educator, Nicholas held faculty positions through Lone Star North Harris and Stephen F. Austin State University. He currently owns and operates The Rose Street Saxophone Room, providing instruction and opportunity to saxophonists across Houston. Nicholas’s teaching focuses on a establishing a consistent process of exploration, self-reflection, and frequent performance opportunities. His students have performed in the TMEA All-State Band, won concerto competitions, and cultivated engaging recital performances. Nicholas has been featured as a chamber musician, recitalist, and concerto soloist. Nicholas frequently arranges for the saxophone, appearing on the album by Nathan Nabb, James Bunte, and Hyun Ji Oh, “Jamnaji.” His publications can be found through Murphy Music Press and NicholasBissen.com/arrangements. Nicholas received a performance certificate from Stephen F. Austin State University, a master’s degree from the University of Cincinnati, and a bachelor’s degree from Central Missouri State University.
