Paul McCarroll

Irish pianist Paul McCarroll has been living in the US for over a decade where he has earned degrees from the University of North Texas and the Eastman School of music. As both soloist and collaborator Paul has performed throughout the US, Ireland, UK, France, Czech Republic and Austria, and has won numerous national awards in the UK and Ireland, including the coveted Mabel Swainson Award, which resulted in his National Concert Hall debut.

Paul has a strong affinity with the Russian Romantic repertoire and in particular, the music of Sergei Rachmaninoff. In his freshman year at the University of North Texas he won the school concerto competition performing Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No.2 and most recently performed the monumental second sonata at the inaugural concert of the U of H Rachmaninoff festival.

During the course of his career, Paul has taken part in various masterclasses with many distinguished artists including Stephen Hough, Sergei Babayan, Jerome Lowenthal, Barry Douglas and Malcolm Bilson. Currently pursuing a doctorate in piano performance at the University of Houston under the guidance of Dr. Tali Morgulis, Paul is minoring in piano pedagogy. A dedicated and gifted teacher, his students have placed in international youth competitions and have been accepted to college programs in the US and Europe.
